Plug and Play System

IR System Overview: An infrared (IR) extender system enables you to control your IR remote controlled A/V equipment from a remote location. This enables you to place your A/V components out of sight (behind cabinet doors, in the rear of a room, or in a different room) and still conveniently control your equipment.

IR System Components: This infrared extender system includes the following items:

  • IR Main System Unit: The IR Main System Unit provides a connection hub for one IR sensor (one included) or keypad and up to 4 IR flashers, and it is generally located near the A/V components. The Main System Unit, which is the "heart" of an IR extender system, has LED indicators to monitor the IR extender system.
  • IR Sensors: IR Sensors, like the included surface mount model, are the "eyes" of the system, receiving IR commands from hand-held remote controls and relaying the commands to the Main System Unit via a CAT-5 or a 4-conductor shielded cable. Generally, sensors are placed so that you can easily and naturally point your remote control directly at them. Sensors are also available in wall-mount, ceiling-mount and tabletop models.
  • IR Flashers: These IR MicroFlashers re-transmit the infrared signals from the IR Main System Unit to your A/V components. Flashers are the "voice" of an IR extender system that "speaks" to your components.
    More Info

You can link your Hidden IR Repeater system to your A/V equipment in minutes. Just place the Hidden IR repeater box in your equipment cabinet, affix one of the 2 included IR (infrared) emitters to each A/V device's IR window, and mount the IR receiver using the included tape in a location where it can receive your IR remote control's transmitted signals. Place the IR receiver on a shelf or on an exposed part of the cabinet; its black color helps it hide beneath equipment of back in the shadows. It does need to be in a direct line of sight from your normal seating position when you'll be using your remote. Use your A/V remote control as usual: The Hidden IR will transmit your command to the correct home theater component, so you'll be able to use your entertainment devices as usual, even though they'll be hidden from view.

A blue confirmation LED blinks when the Hidden IR Repeater system is receiving a remote control command, otherwise remaining unlit.

The 2 emitters included can control many different A/V devices. They're made of material that's transparent to IR light, so commands can still pass directly to individual components if desired. You may stick the emitter over the IR emitter on each component, or place on the shelf in front of the component if you prefer - they're powerful enough to get the signal to the component. Each emitter has a 10' cord so you can easily run emitters to different components. A 120 volt AC to 12 volt DC adapter is included. For use in 220/240 volt countries, use a locally obtained 220/240 VAC to 12 volt DC, 100 mA adapter.

The standard cable from the IR eye to the repeater box is 10' long; If you need more cable length, add our Extension Cable

Will work with cable boxes like the SA HDTV DVR's and DirectTV H21 which use a higher frequency. Dual Frequency IR Receiver comes with the original IR System.
