Decodes digital video & audio streams for analog systems The AXIS 292 Network Video Decoder can convert one stream of MPEG-2 or Motion JPEG video and audio from an Axis network video product into analog signals. This allows analog video devices such as regular TV sets analog monitors and existing analog video switches to be connected to an Axis IP-based video system. Via an Ethernet network such as a LAN or corporate network the AXIS 292 takes a stream of digital video and audio from a specified Axis network camera or video server and converts it in real-time into high quality analog signals. When used in combination with Axis video servers (such as the AXIS 250S MPEG-2) AXIS 292 decoders can quickly and cost-effectively connect two analog systems at different locations via a LAN/MAN/WAN Ethernet network. Users would be able to use existing video matrices and other analog technology to receive video and audio from distant analog cameras or systems as though they were placed locally with the operator even though they might be located in a different city. The AXIS 292 is ideal for retail applications campus security and city center surveillance. Features: Decodes network video and audio without the need of a PC Provides one channel of video and simplex audio Supports both composite and Y/C (S-VHS) video Supports all MPEG-2 and Motion JPEG based Axis products; AXIS 292 can automatically detect the format used Supports both PAL and NTSC video standards Capable of decoding video at full frame rate (30/25 fps) Built-in Web server for administration Analog video resolution of more than 500 TV lines (depending on the quality of the video source) Application possibilities: The AXIS 292 Network Video Decoder is primarily used as an extension to existing installations. Decoding of a single analog video in a network video system: A digital surveillance system with a network video decoder can display network video on a public display TV or other analog monitors i.e. in a retail shop. Connecting two analog systems over a LAN/WAN: Organizations that operate in multiple buildings can reduce the cost for security by integrating a remote analog system with another analog system at the main location. City surveillance systems: Most city centers which have a good networking infrastructure can easily expand the existing analog system by cost-effectively connecting devices through a wide area network with the use of Axis network cameras or video servers and AXIS 292 Network Video Decoders. Existing analog cameras with features such as day/night functionality can still be utilized in such a system.
